Dear Everyone,
It has come to our attention that persons are saying that the Corporation would be closing for two months and employment would be denied our workers during this period.
There is absolutely no truth in such a mischievous statement. I wish to assure all our employees that no such decision has been taken nor will be taken.
Those who are familiar with the workings of the industry know that the upcoming out of crop period, May to July, is the time when our factories undergo major overhaul in preparation for the larger second crop which commences in late July/early August. This continues to be our position.
Additionally, there are crop husbandry activities and agricultural infra-structural rehabilitation which must take place during the out of crop period. This program as well as that for the overhaul of our factories are being finalized and will be in place to guide our operations during the next three months.
We exhort you not be misled by those who are bent on frustrating the efforts to find solutions for a viable future for the industry and safeguarding employment for the majority of our people.
We look forward to working together to achieve the out of crop maintenance program and a second crop which is even more successful than that of 2015.
