–calls for more emphasis to be place on hydrometeorology and early warning
The Hydrometeorological Services department today hosted a Career Fair and Exhibition in the lawns of its Brickdam office where calls were made to more emphasis to be placed on hydrometeorology and early warning capabilities.
Chief Hydromet Officer (ag), Dr. Garvin Cummings echoed this call even as he spoke of the importance of the sector and encouraged youths to make hydrometeorology a career choice.
“The Department is responsible among its many functions, for the monitoring and evaluation of the weather and water resources in Guyana as we work to actively support the government in disaster risk management,” Dr. Cummings noted.
The Career Fair which also attracted scored of students and University graduates were afforded the opportunity to get a first-hand look at the operations of the Hydromet Department.
The Hydromet Department is the official provider of weather, water and climate information and related products and services for Guyana.
