Agriculture Minister Hon. Noel Holder today while addressing the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean called for speedy action in addressing some of the issues of agriculture such as trade barriers, access to CARICOM markets and climate change interventions among others.

Agriculture Minister Noel Holder while giving his presentation during the 34th Session of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean in Mexico.

Minister Holder was at the time presenting the Caribbean Sub-region Report on regional and global policy and regulatory matters. The meeting is being held in Mexico City from February 29 through March 3, 2016.

During the one week Ministerial session, Minister Holder will hold meetings with key officials including Mexico’s Agriculture Minister on several issues which are affecting agriculture in the region.

Among the key issues up for discussions are;-

  1. Challenges and Perspective for Food and Nutrition Security in Latin America and the Caribbean; for the Millennium Development Goals to the sustainable goals
  2. Challenges for transforming the rural sector in Latin America and the Caribbean
  3. Challenges for sustainable use of Natural Resources among others

Agriculture Minister Noel Holder was at the time addressing the Conference in his capacity as Chairman of the Caribbean group of Ministers of Agriculture
