The Ministry of Agriculture today launched its Mashramani 2018 costume band under the theme ‘Celebrating the Transformation of the Agricultural Sector through Diversification in a Green State’.
The event, held in the Ministry’s compound on Regent and Vlissengen Road, had in attendance the Permanent Secretary, Delma Nedd, among representatives from the Ministry of Education as well as staff of the Agri-Ministry.
Permanent Secretary Nedd noted the importance of recognising the potential of the Agriculture sector. “The [Mash] band this year showcases an expression of diversity, and the uniqueness of Guyana’s diversity and will be showcasing the products of the Agriculture Ministry and sector.”
The costumes will depict the Green Economy also the Golden Harvest and aims to not only educate persons locally but will be used as a marketing tool to inform interested persons outside of the country of the status of local agriculture in Guyana today.
Designed by James Vanderhyden of JV’s Classical Creations, the band seeks to demonstrate true progress in the Guyana Agriculture Sector over 48 years as a Republic and the transformation of the sector over the years.
The band will be in the medium category and approximately 60 persons are expected to participate. It also includes a costume for a king that will emphasise the massive potential that exists in the cash crop industry of Guyana along with the prospects of renewable energy that will play a critical role in achieving Guyana’s Green State by 2020.
